The Spanish car aftermarket

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the car aftermarket in Spain between 1991 and 1995 shows an expected 5.4% increase in total value sales in 1995 from 1994 amounting to Ptas649.9 billion. Replacement parts account for 87% of the total market while car security products displayed the strongest growth in value terms due to the rise in car thefts. Nuematicos Michelin, a components maker, dominated the market with a turnover of Ptas176,135 million in 1994. The car aftermarket in Spain is expected to increase by 4.6% to Ptas679.7 billion at constant 1995 prices from 1995 until the year 2000.

Cars in Europe's major markets

Article Abstract:

Analysis of the international market for cars in France, Italy, the UK, Germany and Spain in 1994 shows varying growth levels in five major European markets, namely, France, Italy, the UK, Germany and Spain. France, Spain and the UK reported higher car sales, although much of the rise in new car sales in the last-mentioned country can be attributed to a resurgent fleet sector. On the other hand, Germany and Italy's car markets remain depressed. The outlook for the car markets in these countries remain bleak because of intense competition and high saturation.
