DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi to have separate styles for joint small car

Article Abstract:

DaimlerChrysler AG and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. are taking different approaches to marketing and styling the Z-Car, a new small car developed jointly by the two companies, even though the car will be the same under the hood. Z-Cars produced by DaimlerChrysler will be a member of the company's Smart family, while those made by Mitsubishi will have a distinctive Mitsubishi appearance.

Honda's safety efforts shift to pedestrians: automaker adjusts shape of vehicle following tests on special crash dummy

Article Abstract:

Car makers are starting to make design changes that would make vehicles less deadly for pedestrians by improving passenger safety, equipping cars with better seat belts, air bags and traction-control systems. A case in point is the leading carmaker, Honda, who is working beyond pedestrian safety, on a broader effort, to reduce deaths and injuries in auto accidents.

Porsche SUV goal may hurt earnings

Article Abstract:

Analysts say Porsche's strong gains this year may dampen in the future, as the company increases financing a sports-utility vehicle development project. News of increase in SUV development standing sent Porsche's stock down 4.6% to close at 2,670 marks. Porsche's profits climbed steadily since 1995.
