Hopewell's Chinese torture

Article Abstract:

There have been additional costs of around $17.2 million for property and infrastructure concern Hopewell Holdings as it works on the $1.2 billion Guangzhou-Shenzhen superhighway. The company has announced that the money will be accepted as additional shareholders' loans to the road joint venture company. It has encountered difficulties including soft ground in the Pearl River Delta, which forced it to elevate the highway for a considerable distance.

Elevated mass transit project on track. (Hopewell Holdings road and rail project on track)

Article Abstract:

Hopewell Holdings has seen the deadline for receipt of financing plans extended by the Thai governemnt, for the Bangkok elevated road and rail project. Hopewell is planning to have the financing by December in a packaged tentatively arranged by NatWest bank of the UK, Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau of Germany. $1.2 billion worth of of export credits for the tains will be provided.

Hopewell Holdings faces up to reality. (Hopewell Holdings to sell stakes in Asian infrastructue projects)

Article Abstract:

Hopewell Holdings of Hong Kong, a listed property and infrastructure company, is to sell stakes in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen superhighway infrastructure project and the Bangkok mass transit project. The company is attempting to reduce its debt. Kanematsu of Japan has indicated that it might double its stake in the superhighway.
