Vietnam's construction market
Article Abstract:
Construction is a $2 bil-$3 bil sector in Vietnam with aid money going there since 1993. Growth in the economy is a result. The gross output is now greater than 15% of GDP. There is an especially good market for flood control construction. Almost 50% of large orders come from the public sector. Cement demand is to reach 20 mil tons by 2000 according to predictions of the Construction Ministry, but reliable figures are not easily available. The domestic structural steel industry is catching up with demand rapidly. Some industrial products are rationed by price.

Battles over grammar
Article Abstract:
Linguistics professor Geoffrey Nunberg's 'The Decline of Grammar' has demonstrated the conflict existing between prescriptivism and descriptivism approaches in questioning the correctness in language usage. However, his attempts to address the issue have solicited argumentative points since they lack findings of linguistic science.

The activities of biological molecules are difficult to determine, but a group of researchers led by Carlos Bustamante developed a way to observe how RNA polymerase molecules find their binding sites in DNA. Thomas Schneider's binding site research uses information theory and mathematics.
