How many Ps in marketing? Changes in the focus of marketing in practice

Article Abstract:

The four Ps of marketing - product, promotion, price and place were the essential elements as marketing mix ingredients by E. Jerome McCarthy but marketing academics recognized the shift from product-led marketing to a greater emphasis on consumer focus and influence. The campaign in January 2004 revealed that marketers did not have the necessary financial and strategic competencies and there was a need to acquire new business skills.

Factory Gate Pricing is one part of a push to reduce 'muda' in the retail sector. The Japanese word means waste. Factory Gate Pricing is a concept in which retail distribution organisations are responsible for the delivery of products from the factory to the warehouse. The supplier or manufacturer of the product had previously been responsible.
