Howarth joins country house flight

Article Abstract:

Alan Howarth, laborEs former architecture minister has taken up the cause of the AJ's country house campaign by leading the fight within the House of Commons to convince John Prescott not to abandon the clause, which allowed planners to award permission to isolated country houses of exceptional architectural quality. However, he was not sure whether Prescott was really interested to drop this clause.

Wilkinson Eyre's 'jewel' on Swansea waterfront

Article Abstract:

Wilkinson Eyre is setting up the National Waterfront Museum Swansea. A considerable amount of funding from the Heritage Lottery is involved in the UKPd12.4 mil project. The new building will contain a good amount of meeting area as well as a considerable amount of exhibition area.

Wales to have its own design commission by spring 2002

Wales will create its own design commission to promote good design and establish a Welsh architecture. The body will come into effect in April 2002.
