HypoVereinsbank, one of the leading lenders in the German leveraged buyout market and one of the top 20 senior lenders in Europe, has 35 professionals in its acquisition and leveraged finance department. It has completed 18 deals so far in 1999, with total commitment value of Dm5 billion. It has been able to draw on its underwriting resources and flexibility to complete several transactions with private equity houses. It believes that the buyout market will continue to expand.

The bank has been involved in some of the largest deals during 1999, such as the purchase of several ICI businesses by Huntsman, totaling $2.9 billion.
