IBM GLOBAL TO LAUNCH NEW SERVICES

Article Abstract:

IBM Global Services (IBMGS) is gearing up to launch new services in India during 1999. The company plans to set up its third software unit in the country within a few weeks. IBM Global Services India (P) Ltd, a subsidiary of IBMGS, aims at providing services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The Indian arm feels that SME sector will offer high potential for growth as the sector accounts for about 45 percent of the global information technology services market. IBMGS has obtained approval from Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to acquire 5 percent stake in Information Technical Services at a cost of Rs90 lakh. (gs)

VSNL, IBM LAUNCH NET SERVICES PORTFOLIO

Article Abstract:

IBM Global Services of India (IBM) and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) have introduced Network Services portfolio in India. The service has been launched in Mumbai through Managed Data Network Services (MDNS). The service will soon be available in Delhi and Bangalore. The IBM MDNS will relieve companies from setting up and operating their own networks to meet their communication needs. It will help companies to concentrate on their core business activities. (ag)

HCL INFOSYSTEMS CP, DEBT PROGRAMME

The Rs10 crore commercial paper programme of HCL Infosystems Ltd has been assigned an A1+ rating by Icra, indicating highest safety. The company's Rs10 crore short-term debt programme has also been assigned an A1+ rating. The rating reflects comfortable liquidity, increased customer advances and decreasing working capital requirements due to its shift towards software services. (khr)
