Political heft opens door; Citic Pacific stakes out China's telecom sector

Hong Kong's investments giant Citic Pacific Ltd., through its China's joint venture companies Citic Beijing and Beijing Guoan has acquired stakes in China's telecommunications services industry. Citic Pacific Ltd., buys a fixed fiber optic network and stakes in mobile communications and cable television network services.

DoCoMo, KPN buy stakes in Hutchison 3G

NTT DoCoMo Inc. and KPN Mobile NV will acquire minority shares in Hutchison 3G UK Holdings Ltd. NTT will acquire 20% of the firm for 1.2 billion pounds, while KPN will acquire 15% for 900 million pounds.
