Article Abstract:

The EMU is likely to have only a few European countries as members, and European ministers are vexed as to how to link the new single currency, or euro, with the currency of nonmembers. The Maastricht treaty dictates that the current European exchange-rate mechanism will end after EMU.

Article Abstract:

The 15 governments of the EU are unlikely to reach an agreement on the new treaty at the upcoming Dublin summit. The real deadline for agreement is in June 1997, and European leaders are distracted by other problems, such as the single currency.
