With God on their side

Article Abstract:

Religious belief is becoming an increasingly significant element in sport. A number of leading sportsmen and sportswomen are committed Christians, and many football clubs now have their own chaplain. Some sports psychologists regard religion in sport as an extension of their work, particularly with regard to team-building. The organization Christians in Sport, set up in 1980, now has 10,000 people on its mailing list. It has seen a particular rise in interest among young footballers.

In the pink

Article Abstract:

The number of Indian restaurants in Britain has increased to more than 7,500, since 1950, but there were 300 restaurants closed in 1998 and only 100 opened. There have been problems in attracting staff. Many Indian restaurants are seeking to move upmarket, and this is the case of the Shimla Pinks chain. The restaurants have been successful, and the Shimla Pinks chain is expanding. The staff problem is being tackled by hiring 40% of staff who are not Asian.

'Dia de las Muertos', or Day of the Dead is celebrated every year across Central and Latin America where millions of men and women wear scary, hand-carved masks and feast on skulls made of sugar. Also called 'All Souls Day', it is a key holiday in Latin cultures, a time for families to remember their forefathers and to celebrate the mortal plane.
