In the value game, Asia still trails behind the U.S

Article Abstract:

Boston Consulting Group's annual ranking of companies worldwide based on total shareholder return finds U.S. companies holding 75% of the top 20 spots. Asian companies (excluding Japan's) show an average shareholder return of 16% a year for 1995 to 1999, up from 4% in 1994 to 1998, with Indian companies Infosys Technologies and Wipro heading the region's list.

Data centers feel the heat

Asian Internet data centers are facing a market saturation due to the dot-com crash which left Internet traffic much lower than anticipated. The number of Internet data centers located in the Asian-Pacific region is expected to drop by 40 percent during the next year, according to the International Data Corp, causing layoffs and service interruptions.
