Interbank rates remain lofty despite fund plan

Article Abstract:

European money market tensions seem unaffected despite efforts by the European Central Bank, the US Federal Reserve Board, and other central banks to put more funds into the worldwide banking system. The ECB announced it will inject up to $20 bil in dollar-denominated funds to maintain liquidity in the euro zone. However, interbank offered rates remain at just under 5%.

GE considers bid for Dutch bank NIB

Article Abstract:

General Electric Co. is considering making an acquisition bid for NIB Capital Bank N.V. of the Netherlands. The Dutch commercial and investment bank has $228 million in net income in 2004 and a market capitalization at more than $3 billion.
