Article Abstract:

The bigger Malpensa Airport will open on Oct 25, 1998, as scheduled. Italian Transport Minister Claudio Burlando has ordered airlines to move 66% of their flights to the new airport and retain 34% at the existing Linate airport, through which 15 million of Milan's 18 million passengers passed in 1997. Airlines, however, are allowed to delay the transfer until rail and road links to the new airport are completed.
