Is up the only way?

Article Abstract:

Companies often reward their star employees by promoting them up the corporate ladder, but this also takes them away from the very job they are good at, and can be damaging. It has been observed that highly qualified accountants and consultants contribute more through working with large corporate clients than in management meetings. The best and the brightest employees of British television usually become directors and producers and they face a dilemma over whether to stay in their creative jobs or move over to the management ladder.

Indonesia elections only increase uncertainty

Article Abstract:

Indonesia's control of important international sea lanes makes its stability critical to regional trade. Any movement to religious extremism could endanger both its military and commercial shipping traffic. However, popular dissatisfaction with the government has not abated despite the election of a moderate Islamic cleric as the country's president. Therefore, Indonesia's political situation must be monitored closely even by those not directly involved in commerce with the country.
