Japan's cellphone giant tries expansion into credit cards

Article Abstract:

Takeshi Natsuno, executive at NTT DoCoMo Inc. of Japan has introduced a new line of cell phones that have an embedded credit card, the goal is to foster credit use in Japan and increase revenue for the company. Revenue fell four percent to $44.2 billion last year, with increased competition from rivals and financial projections forecast net income will fall 29 percent to $4.9 billion for this year.

Vodafone posts narrower net loss, sees strength in emerging markets

Article Abstract:

Fiscal-year net loss for Vodafone Group PLC was narrowed due to growth in Africa and other emerging markets and expense reductions in Western Europe. Its recent $10.9 bil purchase of a controlling stake in Hutchison Essar Ltd. is expected to keep Vodafone's growth prospects strong.

Sony's net climbs 18% to record; competition might curb outlook

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp. of Japan net profit rose 18 percent to 169 billion Yen ($1.46 billion) and sales are up ten percent to 2.4 billion Yen. Earnings are the highest in the electronic giants history. A plan for restructuring is in operation.
