Jitter bugs: Seoul delays Samsung's purchase of AST

Article Abstract:

Ministry reviews in Seoul are still holding up Samsung Electronics' purchase of 40% of US-based AST Research, the world's sixth-largest computer maker. The sale was announced 4 months ago but the Ministry of Finance and Economy reportedly objects to the financing involved in the $378 million deal. AST is said to be nervous but Samsung remains steadfast despite AST's recent below-expected earnings. US govt officials have applied some pressure to Seoul.
