Article Abstract:

The tourism industry in Sabah, Malaysia, missed a huge opportunity in 2000 to showcase the region as the home of "Survivor," the reality show filmed on Pulau Tiga that became wildly popular in America. Resorts and hotels that hosted the cast and crew did not market themselves well while the program aired, but now they are using the "Survivor" theme in their promotions.

Malaysia steps up its efforts to attract Muslim travelers

Article Abstract:

Malaysia is planning to increase its tourism marketing in the Middle East, hoping to benefit from the war on terrorism that is taking place in the region. Muslim tourists fear the treatment they may receive if they travel to Europe or the U.S., therefore, Malaysia is encouraging Muslims to visit their country. An accompanying table breaks down Malaysian tourist arrivals by region in the year 2000.

Johnson and Johnson unit tests online marketing in Malaysia

Despite the low use of electronic retailing in Malaysia, Johnson and Johnson Vision Care Inc. had a successful online promotion of its Acuvue disposable contact lenses. Online banking in Malaysia is set to take off next year as restrictions are lifted on foreign banks, and this should help boost consumers' confidence in e-commerce.
