KREBS STEPS ON THE GAS

Article Abstract:

Krebs Biochemicals, an anti-asthmatic bulk drugs producer, is trying to increase its growth rate by raising its ephedrine production capacity to 300 tonnes and by starting the processing of erythromycin thiocynate. Kreb's product portfolio and market share is expected to increase following the production of erythromycin. Its success is expected to depend on exports as it derives about 70 percent of its sales from exports to the global markets. The first quarter results of Kreb reveal that the company is in the growth path. During April-June 1998, it posted a 26 percent rise in its turnover to Rs9.1 crore (Rs7.2 crore during April-June 1996). During this period, the net profit grew by 30 percent to Rs3.4 crore (Rs2.65 crore) while the annualised earnings per share grew to Rs30 per share. (ag)
