Kathleen Wiltshire: Geneva's British banquiere

Article Abstract:

Kathleen Wiltshire occupies one of the key positions of Merrill Lynch group's international private banking network being appointed CEO and general manager of Merrill Lynch Bank (Suisse) in Jul 1998. She heads the administration of multicurrency accounts amounting to some 9,500 million Swiss francs. Wiltshire is dubbed as the British banquiere of Geneva, Switzerland, because of her nationality and capacity to lead Merrill Lynch to further growth as shown by her performance during her first year in the position.

ITALY/EAST EUROPE: UNICREDITO APPOINTMENT

UniCredito has appointed Alois Steinbichler Head of Strategy and International Relations. Steinbichler, former director of BA/CA International will be responsible for developing the Italian bank's activities in central and eastern Europe, where it claims to be the second-largest bank group. UniCredito holds majority stakes in Bulbank in Bulgaria, Splitska Banka in Croatia, Polno Banka in Slovakia and PKO in Poland.

Banca Nazionale del Lavoro

Article Abstract:

The Italian Treasury Ministry is plans to sell all its interest in and to privatize Banca Nazionale del Lavaro (BNL) by March 31, 1999. BNL's three stable shareholders, including Banca Bilbao, Vizcaya, Banca Popolare Vicentina and INA, have agreed to build up BNL's share capital in the 15 months after their shares are purchased.
