Plus-Discount (PD) (Prague, Czech Republic), retailer, expects its proceeds to considerably increase in 2001 compared to 2000. PD's turnover amounted to over CEK 8.4 bil in 2000. PD has been operating in the Czech Republic for nine years. It co-operates with large-scale international and small-scale Czech suppliers. Some of them have become profitable firms due to PD. PD's management do not agree with the opinion that it liquidates small Czech suppliers. It does not want to be the sponsor of firms that produce bad and expensive products with old equipment. PD is a subsidiary of the family trade company Tengelmann (Germany).

GZ Digital Media (Lodenice, Czech Republic), multimedia firm, saw a turnover of CEK 1.3 bil in 2000. Its gross profit amounted to CEK 250 mil in 2000. The firm is involved in the production of data and sound carriers. Its general director Zdenek Pelc won the award the Manager of the Year 2000.
