Kodak, Sony end patent dispute

Article Abstract:

A patent infringement case between Eastman Kodak Co. of the United States and Sony Corp. of Japan has ended. The American photographic equipment giant has entered into a cross-licensing agreement so that both companies are sharing their patent information. Eastman Kodak Co. digital camera profits were over $100 million for the last quarter, decreasing losses to $37 million.

EU fines Japanese firms for videotape price fixing

Article Abstract:

Fines have been imposed by the European Commission on Japanese firms Hitachi Maxell Ltd., Fujifilm Holdings Corp., and Sony Corp. for price fixing in Europe's videotape market between 1999 and 2002. The combined fines for the firms total $110 mil. Sony Corp. has incurred the largest fine due to allegations it obstructed the Commission's antitrust investigation.

Microsoft, LG set pact on cross-licensing
