Korea's multinationals in a regional world

Article Abstract:

Large multinational enterprises (MNEs) in Korea, most of which are chaebols, have developed knowledge-based firm-specific advantages to drive business success. The MNEs are also using scale economies grounded on country-specific advantages in skilled workforce. The manner by which Korean MNEs utilize their firm-specifeic advatages is analyzed further.

Most automobile production from companies such as General Motors, Volkswagen, and others occurs in sub-regional clusters of the European Union, North America and Asia. The factors that affect the globalization of the world automotive business are examined.
