La facture du t l phone vers le GSM s'all ge

Article Abstract:

As a result of an agreement between Belgacom, and the two mobile phone operators on the Belgian market, Proximus and Mobistar, the cost of a call from a fixed phone to a mobile phone dropped 11% on 1 September 1998. Daytime rates on weekdays dropped from BFr 18 per minute to BFr 16 per minute and from BFr 9 in evenings, weekends, and holidays to BFr 8. According to Fabrice Massin, a spokesman for Belgacom, this reduction puts Belgacom's rates well under the European average. He said that the cost of calls to mobile phones will drop 18.5% over one year. The European Commission had been informed of the plans for this reduction in rates.

TELECOMS/

Article Abstract:

IBPT has collected 13 bids for a carrier access code in Belgium. Mobistar says that it is the more advanced in the carrier preselection technique, but the operator shall wait until the end of 1998 before deciding whether or not it should enhance the system to the whole country. Before this, the operator is testing its carrier preselection operation with 10-20,000 users in Brussels. The new service allows Mobistar to offer prices 15-20% below those of Belgacom for both the inter-area and international calls.
