Lame duck in charge

Article Abstract:

Michael Eisner, chief executive officer at Walt Disney Co., has announced that he will not seek to renew his contract when it comes due in September 2006. The announcement leaves the company two years to search for a replacement for the much-coveted entertainment industry position. Disney will be considering its primary internal candidate, President Robert Iger, as well as external candidates, while all the while trying to keep in mind the concerns of its investors.

Disney's net rose 24% in quarter

A favorable tax settlement and significant gains at its broadcasting units, have contributed to an increase of fourth-quarter net income at entertainment giant Walt Disney Co. The company's president, Robert Iger, is predicting that double digit earnings will continue through 2007.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Nardelli, Home Depot Inc. of the United States has resigned. Mr. Nardelli's pay package had been under review as he had failed to increase sales or bring about a stronger stock price. Mr. Nardelli is succeeded by the longtime insider Frank Blake.
