L'avenir d'Alstom Acec Energie/

Article Abstract:

In September 1998, the French group, Alstom, will make known its intentions concerning the future of Alstom Acec Energie which is based at Charleroi in Belgium. Between 1998 and 2000 the hydraulic equipment and motor activities of the site will be transferred to the sites at Belfort and Nancy in France. The site at Charleroi will no longer guarantee service and maintenance activities, and approximately 200 jobs will be lost. Already, Alstom Acec Energie is not authorised to invest in its workshops, and has also had difficulties responding to orders for hydraulic turbines.

Allium, the that specialises in personal computer distribution, maintenance, engineering and user training, will henceforth be exclusively controlled by the Netherlands-based firm KNP-BT. The European Commission, which approved the transfer of control, is satisfied that the change will not significantly modify the structure of the market, given the numerous number of competitors in the sector.
