Kirghizistan voters appear to be willing to place their political future in the hands of Pres Askar Akaev rather than a more representative government. Voters have meekly approved legislation that curtails parliament powers and significantly increases Akaev's control.

Leave it to the states

Article Abstract:

The Supreme Court should take a neutral position on euthanasia and leave it to states to decide on the issue. Democratic debate is the only effective way to deal with euthanasia. Previous rulings on heated social issues by the Court have had disastrous results.
