Next steps in Hong Kong

Article Abstract:

Hong Kong is not to optimistic of the coming Jun 30, 1997 handover as the political air in the country is likely to be repressive compared with that of the past. The new rule is expected to compound the country's existing problems. Housing and business problems loom in the horizon and these, coupled with issues of civil liberties and the yet undetermined political system, are putting pressure on the island's residents.
