Leisure shopping

Article Abstract:

More than three quarters of adults in the UK spend some time on leisure shopping in an average week, according to research by Mintel. Around 16% spend three-four hours every week wandering around shops, while a further 45% spend up to two hours. Leisure shopping is most enjoyed by younger people, and also tends to be a family activity, especially at out-of-town shopping centres. Shopping now has to compete with the wider availability of other leisure activities as the overall amount of leisure time available to most people increases.
