Letter from La Chaux-de-Fonds

Article Abstract:

The Villa Turque is the last building Le Corbusier designed in his home town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, France, before moving on to Paris. Le Corbusier designed the building in 1916-17 as a home for a businessman from the local watchmaking industry. Swiss watch manufacturer Ebel acquired the building in 1986. The company commissioned restoration work intended to conserve Le Corbusier's architectural purpose whilst permitting use of the building for public relations activities. A distinctive feature of the building is the large, blank, rendered panel on the building's street facade.
