Article Abstract:

Italy's state-run Venice Biennale, which operates the annual Venice International Film Festival, has long been plagued by political bureaucracy. In August 1996, however, a bill put through Italy's cabinet that proposes a partial privatisation of the Biennale and reduce the number of bureaucrats.

Italian citizens and politicians do not know what to make of Bossi's planned publicity event on Sep 15, 1996, along the River Po for his separatist Northern League. Bossi's move into separatism for Padania, in northern Italy, was probably party from his party's failure in the general elections.
