Lloyds net advanced 12 percent in 2006

Article Abstract:

Lloyds TSB Group PLC of the United Kingdom posted an increase in net profit by 12 percent for 2006 to 2.8 billion Pounds ($5.5 billion) up from 2.49 billion Pounds last year. Strong financial performance was due to increased cost controls although sales were flat. Bad debt costs are expected to continue in 2007.

BCP plans capital increase

Article Abstract:

Millennium BCP S.A., Portugal's biggest listed bank, has announced it is making a $1.9 bil increase in its capital. The bank also reported a decline of 28% in 2007 net profit due to costs associated with a management reorganization and a failed takeover, along with losses connected to its offshore operations.
