Industry analysts said that China's securities exchanges are dominated by local traders and companies. The government has opened Shanghai and Shenzhen Class B shares to Chinese nationals, allowing companies, such as Gintian Industries Group to increase their market value.

Hutchison, Cheung Kong beat estimates with 2002 earnings

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. posted a rise of 19% in its 2002 net profits to HK$14.29 billion (1.73 billion euros). Cheung Kong Ltd. posted a 22% increase in yearly net profits to HK$8.88 billion.

Persimmon's pretax profit rose 73% in first half
