Location-allocation on a line with demand-dependent costs

Article Abstract:

The location-allocation mathematical model is extended by making the expenses charged to customers by a facility a function of the total number of facility users. The equilibria where each user chooses the cheapest facility and where the facility is at a point that minimizes travel expenses for its clients. The special case where facilities and clients are situated on a finite line segment and demand is distributed on the line by a given density function is analyzed.

Application of decision analysis techniques to the Weber facility location problem

Article Abstract:

Decision analysis methods are employed to analyze the Weber facility location problem. Four alternative objectives that can be utilized in decision analysis are presented. These are the expected value rule, the optimistic rule, the pessimistic rule and the minimax regret rule. To illustrate the results and demonstrate the application of Excel, an example problem is solved in detail and computational experiments with randomly generated problems are provided.

A competitive facility location problem on a tree network with stochastic weights

Article Abstract:

A study on competitive facility location problem with stochastic weights is presented. The Stackelberg equilibrium problem on a tree network is considered, analysed and a solution procedure is proposed with the objective of each company to locate its facility so as to maximize the captured buying power after the follower's entry.
