Malaysia's prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad, incorrectly believes that the billions of dollars investors have placed in Asia have caused the economies of countries to falter. Any economic problems, such as recent currency devaluations, are due to local conditions and poor productivity.

Asia's population advantage: if demography has its way, Asian economies should continue growing rapidly for decades to come

Article Abstract:

The economy of Asia is expected to continue to be strong as countries experience rapid population contraction, but an increase in the working population. The rapid change in the region is also attributed to greater foreign investment and greater rates of savings by citizens.
