Lucent may be close to a deal to sell fiber unit to Furukawa

Lucent Technologies Inc. is near an agreement to sell its fiber division to Furukawa Electric Co. The deal is valued at $2.75 billion (3.16 billion euros). However, other bidders may still increase their bids.

GE appeals EU's veto of Honeywell purchase

General Electric Co. (GE) has filed an appeal in response to the European Union's (EU) rejection of its planned acquisition of Honeywell International Inc. The deal, valued at 48.8 billion euros, was turned down over antitrust issues.
