DBS Group announces purchase of Dao Heng to skeptical investors

DBS Group Holdings has acquired Dao Heng Bank Group of Hong Kong for as much as US$5.7 billion (6.42 billion euros). The deal will give DBS a strong presence in a major financial hub in the region.

EU agrees to let Hutchison, partners take control of port

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. has won a battle with the EU to take a share of Europe Combined Terminals B.V., Europe's busiest port, but only after a series of concessions targeted at easing fears that the Hong Kong-based company would have too much control over container traffic in Europe.

Hutchison to sell 20% of ports unit to an Asian rival

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. of Hong Kong is to divest a 20 percent stake to PSA International Private Ltd. of Singapore for $4.39 billion. The divestment of interest in Hutchison Whampoa Ltd.'s ports subsidiary would create inroads in China and help boost the market share of its cell phone company.
