Inflation in Ireland forces downgrade of future profits

Ireland's financial analysts cut its earning forecasts for 2001 and 2001 due to a high 6.2% inflation rate. Merrion Stockbrokers cut its projected earnings for Eircom PLC, an Irish telecommunications company, by 8%.

Bank of Ireland posts 12% rise in pretax profit

Bank of Ireland PLC posted an increase of 12% in its pretax profits for the six-month period ending September 30, 2000. The bank posted 567 million euros in pretax profits for the period.
