Luxury labels hit in the pocketbook: high-end sales are slowing down as "even the rich understand that there's some anxiety in the world"

Article Abstract:

Luxury goods brands worldwide are beginning to be affected by the sluggish economy. Swiss firm Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A. reported shares down 6.7% after lower holiday sales. Holiday sales were also down for Italy's menswear company Ermenegildo and Figli Zegna S.p.A., while US-based Coach Inc. saw same-store sales drop 1.1% for the last quarter of 2007. Louis Vuitton S.A. is risking a 5% price increase in the US market.
