MAJOR IT COS OCCUPY OVER 45% OF KOTHARI INFOTECH FUND

Article Abstract:

Major software companies have an exposure of over 45 percent in the portfolio of Kothari Pioneer Infotech Fund, India's first information technology specific mutual fund. Satyam Computer occupies 16.97 percent of the fund's total assets, Infosys Technologies 15.53 percent and NIIT 13.95 percent. The fund has also invested in the scrips of Mastek, BFL Software, Sierra Optima, Tata Infotech and Digital. The fund recently added the scrips of Ramco Industries of Chennai and PSI Data of Bangalore to its portfolio. The net asset value of the fund has grown by 4.5 percent since inception in August 1998 from Rs9.70 to Rs10.14 at present. (khr)

KOTHARI PIONEER TO LAUNCH $75-M OVERSEAS FUND

Article Abstract:

Kothari Pioneer Mutual Fund (KPMF) is likely to launch another $75 million close-ended overseas fund mainly targeted at the institutional investors in USA. A major portion of the corpus will be invested in mid-cap stocks and the remaining will be invested in few sectors which have a promising future. At present, KPMF is managing the $25 million open ended Pioneer India Fund, registered with SEC of USA. This fund, which is meant for US citizens, recorded 15 percent appreciation in 1997 and 20 percent appreciation in 1998. (gsh)

KOTHARI PIONEER TO LAUNCH FUNDS FOR PHARMA, FMCG

Article Abstract:

Kothari Pioneer Mutual Fund (KPMF) plans to introduce two sector funds - Kothari Pioneer FMCG (Fast moving consumer goods) Fund and Kothari Pioneer Pharma Fund by end of February 1999. It has earlier introduced Infotech Fund. These two new funds will invest in shares of pharmaceutical and FMCG companies. Each fund will have a corpus of Rs10-15 crore each. The schemes will be open ended with a minimum subscription of Rs3,000. KPMF has identified pharmaceuticals and FCMG as recession proof sectors. (rk)(vr)
