MITTALS TO RESTRUCTURE BHARTI GROUP, SPLIT BTL OPERATIONS

Article Abstract:

The Mittals, the promoters of the Bharti group, plan to revamp the companies. They intend to seek de-listing of Bharti Telecom Ltd on the bourses to divide the activities of the company. They plan to spin off the production activities of Bharti Telecom Ltd to Bharti Comtel and retain the service activities with Bharti Telecom Ltd. They also plan to reduce their stake in Bharti Televentures to 51 percent from 80 percent. Initially, the promoters will be offloading a 20 percent stake in Bharti Televentures to net Rs250 crore. They also plan to infuse Rs30 crore in Bharti Comtel to help it acquire the shares of Bharti Telecom Ltd from the open market through a public offer. The Mittals plan to make Bharti Global the third member of the Bharti group tree under Bharti Enterprise. They also plan to sell their stake in Bharti Telespatial, the promoter of the group's VSAT and Internet businesses. (ag/kvr)

WIPRO GETS Y2K CERTIFICATE FOR SUPERGENIUS PCs

SuperGenius personal computers (PCs) of Wipro have got certification of the Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance from the National Software Testing Laboratory of USA. The operating system of SuperGenius is also Y2K compliant. The Mark 2000 of the National Software Testing Laboratory checks a personal computer for the year 2000 change. (rk) (kvr)
