Mainland travel has come a long way

Article Abstract:

Foreign business people are finding it easier to travel in China since infrastructure has developed in keeping with the country's rapid economic progress. Changes have produced more internal flights, trains, hotels, and foreigners can now utilize the local renminbi rather than foreign-currency certificates. The proposed entry of China into the World Trade Organization may further ease travel since entry requirements demand the easing of limitations on service industries.

Former prison seeks tourists: Green Island hopes to attract willing visitors

Article Abstract:

Taiwan is seeking investors to turn Green Island, a former prison which contained several of the country's top political oppositionists, into a resort. The country's aim to draw up to 1,500 tourists daily to the island is in keeping with Taiwan's drive to advance its poorly developed eastern region. The Ministry of Finance was scheduled to start the bidding for 5.6 hectares of undeveloped property on the island.
