MAS: back in black in 2003

Article Abstract:

Malaysian airline Malaysian Airline System has reported a loss of 1.33 billion ringget for this year ending on March 31. The losses were attributed to higher fuel costs and fewer aircraft sales from MAS's fleet. MAS intends to implement a business plan, including the revision of fares and the refiguring of its international network, that will ensure stability by 2003.

Pilot strike redux, perhaps?

Article Abstract:

South Korean arilines Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines have recovered from recent strikes; but face a slowing global economy including lower volumes of cargo traffic, a weak currency, and high fuel prices. Share prices are expected to fall, even if increased travel due to the 2002 soccer World Cup and China joining the World Trade Organization may raise profits slightly.
