Management audits as instruments of change

Article Abstract:

Management audits can help identify problems and solutions related to corporate performance at the individual executive level; however, since such audits are performed by outsiders, the managers being audited frequently resent the process. Success depends on top management's support and line managers' willingness to act on findings. The internal administration of a management questionnaire can be substituted for the management audit process. The questionnaire approach has been effective in opening communications and building consensus. However, the questionnaire's effectiveness, like that of the audit, depends upon executive willingness to accept findings and support plans for action. The questionnaire should uncover weaknesses in organizational climate, structure, and operational systems (such as personnel, marketing, and planning departments).

To entice Disney, the government has offered highway improvements, a new subway station, and a link with trans-continental railroad lines. Disney, on its part, will ensure Eurodisneyland meets the needs of French consumers and meets the local cultural content provisions of the French government.
