Managing the new global workforce: fostering diversity, forging consistency

Article Abstract:

Multinational companies endeavour to provide both a uniform level of service or product throughout their worldwide operations but they have to work with a variable workforce. Increasing competition has meant companies have recognized the need to fully utilize the skills of all their employees. Some firms chose to favour one element, such as Heineken NV which emphasizes consistency in its product wherever it is made. Other companies try to take advantage of differences in their workforce to increase cooperation over solving problems with the whole organisation.
