The long-term impact of the adoption of build-to-order (BTO) manufacturing strategies on the marketing function and the marketing strategies associated with successful BTO companies is examined. The thriving companies have an intimate understanding of their customers and the practice of BTO marketing will be central to the achievement of effective efficiency in marketing processes.
