Matsushita, Toyota bet on Internet trade to save costs

The article discusses Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.'s plans to use the Internet to purchase many of the materials and components it purchases from thousands of suppliers. This is one of the biggest actions yet taken by an Asian industrial group to use the Web for efficiency gains. Toyota Motor Corp. has similar plans.

Taipei lifts stock hurdle; lifting process eased for island's Internet firms

This article discusses how Taiwan has tentatively appointed the Economics Ministry's Industrial Development Bureau as a supplementary screening agency for Internet firms that can't meet regular listing regulations. In doing this, Taiwan has removed an obstacle for stock listings by Taiwanese Internet firms.
