This Internet start-up stayed at home

Article Abstract:

The article profiles MediaRing.com, a Singapore-based Internet company which became the first unprofitable firm to be listed after the Stock Exchange of Singapore decided to allow entry to companies with high-growth potential, even if they had not yet made a profit. This news will probably encourage other Singapore start-ups to seek funding locally rather than migrate to the Nasdaq Stock Market or high-tech regional exchanges.

Cash-strapped Internet start-ups brace for a shakeout

Article Abstract:

The article discusses how the slowdown in the Nasdaq Stock Market and the speculative culture it brought about is leading to a possible shakeout for Chinese companies. The shares of two top Chinese portals, for example, Netease.com and Sohu.com Inc., are trading on Nasdaq at less than half their initial-public-offering prices, causing competitors to cancel their listing plans.
