Dalgety challenges Mars petfood with Quaker purchase

Quaker Oats has sold its European petfood operations to UK food group Dalgety, making the latter concern the second-largest supplier of petfood in Europe. Quaker is mainly present in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia and Italy, and holds 22.6% of the petfood market through grocery outlets. The purchase will allow Dalgety to compete strongly with Mars.
