Minneapolis firm plans to acquire Pillsbury units

International Multifoods Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire certain units of Pillsbury Co. and General Mills Inc. for $305 million (326.2 million) in cash. International Multifoods will acquire Pillsbury's specialty products and desserts operations, as well as General Mills's Robin Hood flour brand.

Heinz abandons its plan to buy Beech-Nut

Article Abstract:

HJ Heinz Co. is terminated its plans to acquire Beech-Nut after the deal was blocked by a federal appeals court panel in the US. The court said the planned $185 million deal would have killed off competition in the baby food market.

Nestle's Dreyer's bid nears crunch time

Nestle S.A. is close to reaching a deal with antitrust officials in the US for its proposed acquisition of Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream Inc. The 2.43 billion euros deal, if approved, will include Dreyer's distribution system in the US.
